Videos of Covers and Performances
Here is a set of my covers and performances of both my own work and covers of songs that I have a huge affinity towards. Remember to like and subscribe! If you would like me to try to cover something else contact me via my email or social media and I'll have a go.
Take On Me - a-ha Cover
a-ha's MTV Unplugged version of their classic Take On Me was requested at a New Year's Eve party I went to and thought that since I had practiced the song it was time to record a cover!
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry - Hank Williams Cover
A cover of Hank Williams' I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry I made just to teach myself vocal mixing and as such the backing track is non-original (link in video description to original creator!) but the results of my vocal mixing was too good not to share. Hope you enjoy!
Loving Her Was Easier - Kris Kristofferson Cover
A performance of Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again) by Kris Kristofferson - one of my lyrical heroes - in his memory. This has to be one of my favourite songs of all time - you will be sorely missed Kris!
Dancing In The Dark - Bruce Springsteen Cover
A stripped back performance of a song by one of my favourite artists to really let the lyrics breath taken from a performance in 2023. There was definitely some inspiration from the version previously recorded by Sam Fender - another of my musical muses.
Rocket Man - Elton John Cover
An acoustic version of an Elton John classic which related to me at the time as I had just finished my masters degree in physics and I can confirm all the science I don't understand was indeed my job 5 days a week for a long time!
Pinball Wizard - The Who Cover
A mish-mash of the Elton John and The Who versions of the song made famous by the rick opera Tommy - which is definitely worth a watch if you haven't already. This song played a large part in the development of my current playing technique as it became a mainstay in my practice routine.
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana Cover
In 2022 I was in Nirvana's top 1000 listeners according to Spotify - safe to say some of the songs I wrote that year were heavy on violent imagery and today I realise were really quite depressing but I still look back on them with envy - as the creativity that came with the metaphors I was using is something I could conjure every day! Megan (never got her last name or social media!) is the guitar player and singer here and we had a total of 10 minutes to improvise a song to play together at the request of the crowd - not bad for literally 0 practice if you ask me!
Open Mic Covers Medley 2023
In 2023 I performed music for the first time on stage (I've been performing theatre as long as I can remember!) and whilst my performance isn't perfect and the recording quality isn't great I thought sharing this recording would be a good way of looking back and seeing how far I have come. Hope you enjoy!
